Henry Wallace Bethea’s Prayer

Oh Father accept my prayers and petitions this 17^th day of August 1963.  May I ever be mindful of my many blessings, care, love and protection.

 I will continually praise the lord with my mouth.

 Oh Father no man can find his way lest he be led by the spirit.  So lead me this day to do some good thing.  When my cares, problems, obligations, failures, afflictions and disappointments fell upon me as nets of destruction, you heard my prayers and delivered me from all my fears.

 Help me father that this day my tongue speak no evil and my lips utter no guile.  Help me to be alert to bypass and depart from wrongdoing but to do good, seek peace and pursue it.

 Then Oh Father remember my family, hear them when they pray.  Bless all my people.  Bless all my friends and neighbors with the same blessings that I have asked for myself.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen
