"BUCK SWAMP" John Bethea3 III was the son of "Virginia" John Bethea2.  He had a brother ,  William Bethea3 and at least 2 sisters, Anna Bethea (Rogers)3 and Mary Bethea (Rogers)3.  

John was married twice. The first marriage was to Lucy ________, and the second marriage was to Absala Parker born 1744 and married in 1765.. 

He had five sons and four daughters they are :

1) Sarah Bethea (Odom)4 born 1766 
2) Pattie Bethea (Owens)4  born 1767 
3) William Bethea4  born 8-18-1769  
4) James Bethea4 born 6-25-1774 
5) Mollie Bethea (Owens)4   born 1776
6) Absola Bethea (Owens)4  born 1778
7) Philip Bethea4 4-25-1781 
8) Col. Elisha Bethea4 born 1787 
9) Parker Bethea4 born 1790


300 acre land grant from the Sovereign State of the South Carolina in 1784 to "Buckswamp" John Bethea.
